Anxiety tips video- lockdown easing
Here’s a 3 minute video of Sian Quipp talking through some tips to help reduce anxiety.
A lot of us can feel a mix of emotions as lockdown is easing - which are all normal responses. Here are some practical ways to support yourself through this transition.
Summary:
Acknowledge how you feel Research shows labelling our emotions (for example “I’m feeling nervous.”) can reduce anxiety.
Permission Give yourself permission to have your own experience. Our brains like certainty and uses past experiences to predict the future - meaning everyone has their own unique reaction.
Go at your pace Remember you have choice.
Discharge or Soothe anxious energy We have two options of how to transform anxious feelings in the body. Trying to be rational is easier once you’ve released the adrenaline and cortisol in your system.
