One thing at a time
When we feel like things are building up for us, or there are too many things we need to do, or things that we can’t control, it can be easy to slip into overwhelm. Overwhelm often causes us to zone out, to disconnect in some way either with distracting ourselves or shutting down.
In our modern lives we have lots of information coming into our senses very quickly. So here is a friendly reminder to take one thing at a time.
It’s so simple but we can forget and just dive into tasks and plans with frantic energy.
How do you take one thing at a time? Try giving yourself some time to plan your day. Then choose 1- 3 main things to focus on this morning. Have a break. Then choose your focus for the afternoon. Break things done to achievable chunks. This can help to avoid going into the stress response and hopefully set yourself up for a smoother and more productive day.
